'Australia' is a labor of love that's lacking in heart

    by The Associated Press
    Saturday November 29, 2008, 6:47 AM

An epic drama that carries on so long you start to feel as if you've been deported to Sydney, Baz Luhrmann's "Australia" falls into a curious trap: It's a labor of love that's sorely lacking in heart.

'Four Christmases' is more more bland than amusing

    by The Associated Press
    Friday November 28, 2008, 7:19 AM

There are worse holiday-related ways to spend your time than "Four Christmases," I suppose. Making a three-hour drive to grandmother's house in pea-soup fog, for one. Assembling a bicycle with with one of those fake little screwdrivers, for another. Perhaps buying a pie on the day before Thanksgiving, or winding up in the emergency room for eating your mother-in-law's macaroni salad.

    by Mike McGranaghan

I'm the only guy I know who has read "Twilight." Certainly there are others out there. It's just that I know a lot of people who have read Stephenie Meyer's vampire romance novel, but none of them are males. When I ask other guys if they've read it, I get the kind of perplexed looks that say, Dude, are you serious? What time is the game on?

'Bolt' is a jolt of joy

    by The Associated Press

Rhino, Bolt and Mittens in Walt Disney Pictures' 'Bolt'

May I gush? "Bolt" is a jolt of joy, a computer-animated delight that is delirious with laughs. It's also canny enough to know that perilous suspense and even sad moments have a place in any good children's story.

    by The Associated Press
    Saturday November 22, 2008, 6:31 PM

Members of the Screen Actors Guild and their supporters rally outside the organization's Los Angeles headquarters in June 9 in support of their television/theatrical contract negotiation team.
LOS ANGELES -- The Screen Actors Guild said Saturday it will ask its members to authorize a strike after its first contract talks in four months with Hollywood studios failed despite the help of a federal mediator.

Federal mediator Juan Carlos Gonzalez adjourned the talks between SAG and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers shortly before 1 a.m. after two marathon sessions failed to produce an agreement. No new talks are scheduled.
