Grading the Lions. Is Derrick Williams Penn State's first-half MVP?
by Michael Sedor/PennLive.com

Is Navorro Bowman (18) or Aaron Maybin (59) your pick for Penn State's first-half MVP? Wisconsin's P.J. Hill chooses neither. After Penn State's 48-7 win at Wisconsin how could Bob Flounders' report card not be straight A's?
Three A's and two B+'s?!? Guess he doesn't believe in grade inflation; there will be no Ivy League professor position for Bob in the near future.
Still, it's hard not to gush about Penn State's onfield performance this season and Flounders obliges by pointing out that in 2008 a two-touchdown spread qualifies as a close game.

Trinity star Christian Kuntz tore his MCL in this game against Middletown and is out for at least the regular season and most likely the entire season.
Trinity football star Christian Kuntz, a part of the 2009 Penn State recruiting class, suffered a torn MCL Saturday afternoon in the Shamrocks' 31-14 victory at Middletown.
He is definitely out for the regular season and most likely done for the year, according to Trinity football coach Jeff Boger.

What a Country!
As the Rank Nazi had Penn State ranked 5th on his ballot previously, he has moved Penn State into 2nd. place by attrition alone. I seriously debated on ranking us #1 (3 coaches in the USA poll and four in the Harris Poll did just that!) but was fearful of the dreaded HOMER backlash.
ILLINOIS lost to Minnesota--NO RANK FOR YOU!
Northwestern lost to Sparty--NO RANK FOR YOU!
And Wisconsin, what can we say . . . wait for it . . . NO RANK FOR YOU!

Un-Bielema-ble!

It's not nice to fool Joe Paterno.
And while you can argue about Penn State running up the score or not when Paterno allowed Pat Devlin to come in to relieve Clark in the fourth, I actually disagree with Blackledge who thought Penn State shouldn't have been passing that much late in the game.
For crying out loud wasn't that refreshing? As a Penn State fan I have watched way too many boring fourth quarters where we run three plays and punt just so we don't make any mistakes and we don't appear to run up the score on inferior opponents. And when our defense tires, or the third string fails, we watch meaningless touchdowns scored against us. Yeah, that's a lot of fun to watch. THANK GOD we didn't do that last night. It was actually fun to watch! And besides, would it really be fair to Pat Devlin to substitute him late in the game, simply to hand off the ball??? That would almost be as degrading as bringing in Daryl Clark in relief of Morelli just so he can take a knee! Doesn't he deserve a chance to play? Is it his fault that we crushed them so badly? And isn't it Wisconsin's job to prevent Penn State from scoring?

Penn State backup running back Brent Carter sustained a knee injury and backup wide receiver Brett Brackett was shaken up in the third-ranked Niittany Lions' 48-7 win over Wisconsin Saturday night.
Their status for PSU's game with Michigan Saturday at Beaver Stadium is unknown.
PSU assistant sports information director Jeff Nelson said today that Brackett will likely be examined to see if he has a concussion.

Does Penn State RB Evan Royster believe the Nittany Lions are the No. 1 team in the country?Penn State is now ranked No. 3 in the country by the Associated Press, their highest position since the final 2005 AP poll when the Lions finished 11-1. Penn State received no first place votes.
The team that put that 1 in the loss column, Michigan, is coming to Happy Valley next weekend. The same Wolverine squad that lost to Toledo at home yesterday; the same program the Lions haven't defeated since 1996.
The entire state of Pennsylvania is licking their lips.

QB Daryll Clark celebrates after scoring a third quarter touchdown against Wisconsin. Are you kidding me? A 48-7 win on the road against Wisconsin?
Is Penn State as good as they looked in Madison or is the Big Ten and the Badgers that bad?
The word from the Patriot-News fanline is overwhelmingly negative and disparaging of the Big Ten.
But in their Sunday Patriot-News articles columnists Bob Flounders and David Jones take the other side of the debate.
Flounders compares the squad to (gasp) the 1982 National Championship squad while Jones adds that even the usually skeptical JoePa believes that this team is great.
