    PET TALES

    Joseph Petcka

    by K. D. Saul
    Thursday September 18, 2008, 7:40 PM

Actor and ex-minor league ball player Joseph Petcka has been charged with beating a pet cat to death. The beautiful long-haired orange and white tabby, named Norman, died of massive internal and external injuries from the beating he took from Petcka, who was in a jealous rage because he thought his girlfriend paid the cat too much attention. Mom says there's a special place waaaaaay down south for the likes of Petcka. He gives humans a bad name. For shame.

    Pennsylvania Dog Law Overhaul

    by K. D. Saul
    Tuesday September 16, 2008, 8:26 PM

How would you like to spend your whole life barefoot on wire mesh? How would you like never to be able to stretch out for a nap? How would you like to hurt and know you're sick and won't get help? How would you like to not go outside and enjoy a spring breeze? How would you like to be shot just because somebody who cares made your owner let a vet check you out?

    It's a no-brainer, guys. Pass the !@#$ law. Please.

    Covention Tension

    by K. D. Saul

Those last few weeks of August made my fur itch. All that hot air and no birthday balloons to blow up. We could save a lot of energy by holding the political conventions in the winter - heat everybody's house for free.

    Hey, Stray-Stray

Good to hear from you! Have a new little sister, do you? Wow. Your mom is such a heroine. (Glad she's your mom and not mine.) Share a my food and water bowls with a stranger? I don't think so. And the next time she hisses at you, tap her alongside the head firmly. You'll have a good laugh when she topples over and the hiss turns into a squeak. Don't do it when Mom's looking, though.

A stranger's tongue in my water dish - eeeww!

    Lots of Needy Pets

    by Kathy Rembisz
    Tuesday September 09, 2008, 10:59 PM

Aside from my experience with the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue and their current need for help in all forms--monetary, volunteers, working with the dogs--I have been hearing from many pet adoption agencies facing the same difficulties. Whether you can make a donation or have the time or inclination to help by working with the animals, now is a great time to do so. It seems so many families have had to make the tough decision to give up a pet due to the difficult economy. In other instances, animals have been displaced as a result of severe weather which has left families homeless. It is always the animals who are often forgotten or the last to receive help. Don't forget about these victims. It's a great time to get involved.

    DVGRR Filled!

    by Kathy Rembisz
    Thursday August 14, 2008, 3:52 PM

We've been volunteers with DVGRR for close to 10 years now. Never have I received the type of SOS e-mail from them that I recently did. It seems with the economy doing poorly, more and more owners are forced to give up their pets. DVGRR is certainly facing the same problem. They are filled to maximum capacity with dogs. If you know of anyone looking to adopt a golden, please visit www.dvgrr.org and check out all the great dogs up for adoption.

    State Furloughs

    by K. D. Saul

I just know my mom's gonna get furloughed again. Sixteen years as an
essential state employee, and last year her whole office got reclassified
as non-essential just in time to be furloughed so the girl and boy wonders in the capitol can make political hay.
